I adore the way bright silver looks with dark, matte oxidized silver. Mixing metals creates beautiful jewelry! Check out the pieces below.

Oxidized silver is a process that we use to give sterling silver a black patina, it creates a gorgeously distinctive and stunning surface treatment, an antique or tarnished look.

The process consists of taking clean pure sterling silver and using a chemical (liver of sulphur) to treat it to speed up the tarnishing effect. The best part? You don't have to worry about cleaning it. It's already tarnished!

Although this process isn't permanent, it will wear beautifully. We love the unique wear that each user will experience. It is this aspect of the oxidized finish that we are most drawn to as we feel the end result is a collaboration between maker and wearer. The wear over time will become unique to you since it reflects how you've used it in your life.

Oxidized finishes have the longest life on pieces that come into minimal contact with their surroundings, such as earrings and necklaces. Rings and bracelets tend not to hold their color quite as long since they rub on things we touch more frequently. Some people’s jewelry holds oxidation better than others, we all have such different skin, and it can be hard to predict what will happen. For some, oxidation rubs off fairly quickly and for others it can last a while.

We will happily re-patina any piece of jewelry you purchase from us, contact us.
